You can pay everything online through Paystack, or pay only the service fee through Paystack and then deposit the hostel room fee into the hostel bank account shown after checkout.
Before You Start
- Use your real name, correct gender, programme, working email address, and active phone number so hostel staff can identify and contact you.
- Select your university during account creation so the platform can keep your student profile tied to the right campus.
- Upload or take a clear face photo during account creation. Use a plain white background, face the camera directly, and avoid caps, sunglasses, filters, or group photos because hostel admins use it with your printed accommodation status during check-in.
- Read the hostel description, room rules, payment policy, and available room types before you continue.
- Only hostels that are online and have available beds can be booked.
- If you start booking while logged out, the app will guide you to sign in or create an account before returning you to the booking.
How To Search And Choose A Hostel
- Open Hostels to browse active hostel listings across supported universities.
- Use the University filter first when you only want hostels serving your campus.
- Use the hostel details page to inspect the hostel photos, description, room availability, price, distance, map details, and policy.
- Check student reviews on the hostel details page. New hostels may show no reviews yet instead of a rating.
- Hostel contact details are shown only after you book through the platform, so all payments and approvals stay protected in the app.
- Check that your preferred room type and level are available before continuing.
- If a hostel is offline, it may be under maintenance or temporarily not accepting bookings.
Booking Steps
- Choose the room type you want.
- Choose your level or required booking detail.
- Read and accept the hostel policy and platform terms.
- Choose your payment option only after reviewing the payment summary.
- You cannot move forward until the required selection for the current step has been made.
- If you have a coupon code, apply and verify it before Paystack checkout. A verified coupon is valid only for the selected hostel, room type, level, and payment option.
Payment Options
- Full online payment: the room fee and service fee are paid together through Paystack.
- Manual hostel payment: the service fee is paid online through Paystack first, then you deposit the hostel room fee directly into the hostel bank account shown after the service fee payment.
- For manual payment, make the bank payment as a deposit and keep the bank transaction ID or reference from your receipt.
- The manual payment grand total shown during checkout is the service fee only. The hostel room fee is paid separately at the bank.
- If Paystack checkout fails or is abandoned, restart checkout from the app instead of creating a separate bank payment outside the app.
- Online service charge currently used by BedmateGH is 2.30% for online checkout.
- Manual checkout service fee currently used by BedmateGH is GHS 10.00.
After Paying The Service Fee Manually
- The app will show the hostel bank details immediately after the Paystack service fee succeeds.
- Pay the hostel room fee into that account as a bank deposit.
- Use the exact account details shown by the app and do not pay a different account shared outside the platform.
- Return to your student dashboard and open the payment verification page.
- Submit the payment token and the bank transaction ID/reference exactly as shown on your bank receipt.
- Your booking will remain pending until the hostel admin verifies the bank deposit.
- If you wait too long, BedmateGH may remind you before the reservation deadline. Missing the verification deadline may cause the booking hold to be released.
Coupons And Discounts
- Coupon codes work only when BedmateGH enables the coupon feature.
- A coupon must be verified before Paystack checkout. Entering a code without applying it does not reserve the discount.
- Coupons reduce the BedmateGH platform service fee only. The hostel does not bear the discount and the hostel room fee remains payable unless the checkout summary says otherwise.
- Coupon use may be limited by date, room price, total usage, student account, or payment option.
- A used coupon is recorded against the booking transaction for reconciliation.
Room Assignment And Check-In
- BedmateGH assigns rooms based on your university, booking details, and current room availability after payment is confirmed.
- Hostels may keep programme grouping on so students in the same programme can be placed together when available.
- The hostel admin verifies and approves the booking before your room details are shown.
- When your accommodation status is ready, print it from your student dashboard.
- After the hostel approves and assigns your room, the approval time is recorded by the system.
- Your printed accommodation status includes a QR code/check-in code, your student details, and your accommodation details.
- Carry the printed accommodation status during check-in because the hostel admin will scan the QR code or type the code and compare your face photo and details.
Student Dashboard Help
- Overview shows your current booking and accommodation status.
- Paid online bookings appear on your dashboard even when hostel verification or assignment is still pending.
- Accommodation details show hostel, room, bed, payment, and check-in information when available.
- Payment details show the hostel bank details for manual payment bookings when you need them.
- Use payment verification only after you have completed the bank deposit and have the bank transaction reference.
- Notifications show messages from the platform or hostel team. Open them regularly so you do not miss payment, booking, or check-in updates.
- Use print status when you need a copy for hostel check-in.
- After your booking is approved and assigned, open Booking History to review the hostel. You can review each approved booking once.
- Student Rewards shows your private Bedmate points, reward chances, referral code, recent rewards, and any active reward campaign.
Student Rewards
- Your BedmateGH reward progress is private and shown only inside your student dashboard.
- You earn 50 Bedmate points and 1 reward chance when your hostel booking is approved and assigned.
- You earn 20 Bedmate points and 1 reward chance when you submit an honest review after approval.
- You earn 30 Bedmate points and 1 reward chance when a student uses your referral code and later gets an approved room assignment.
- Referral rewards are not paid at sign-up. The invited student must complete a real booking and hostel approval first.
- Each approved booking, review, and qualified referral can earn only once, so repeated clicks will not create extra rewards.
- When BedmateGH runs a reward campaign, you must enter the campaign from your student dashboard before your chances can count.
- Each submitted reward chance counts once in the winner selection. If you submit 2 chances and another student submits 1, you have better odds, but both of you can still win.
- If two or more students have the same number of chances, they have equal odds in the reward selection.
- The winner is selected randomly from the submitted reward chances, so more submitted chances improve your possibility but do not guarantee a win.
- When you are selected for a reward, the chances used for that reward are completed. You can earn fresh chances again through approved bookings, honest reviews, and qualified referrals.
- Rewards are not cash, cannot be withdrawn, and do not reduce your booking payment automatically.
- BedmateGH may use reward campaigns to support students with controlled benefits such as hostel support, airtime, data, or school-life offers.
Can I cancel after payment?
Cancellation after payment is not currently available, so students should review hostel details carefully before paying.
What happens after payment?
Full online payments move to hostel approval and room assignment. Manual hostel payments move to approval after the hostel payment is verified.
Can I use a coupon code?
Yes, when BedmateGH enables coupon codes. The code must be applied and verified before Paystack checkout. Discounts reduce the platform service fee, not the hostel room fee.
Can I review a hostel?
Yes. After your booking is approved and assigned, open Booking History and submit one review for that booking.
Are utilities included?
This depends on the hostel. Review the hostel policy before booking.
Why can I not continue booking?
Check that you selected the required room, level, policy agreement, and payment option for the current step.
Why is a hostel missing?
A hostel may be offline, linked to another university, temporarily hidden by BedmateGH, or unavailable because there are no matching beds.
What if Paystack fails?
Check your internet connection and try again. Do not make a second bank deposit unless you are sure the first payment failed.
How do student rewards work?
Approved bookings, honest hostel reviews, and qualified referrals can earn Bedmate points. When BedmateGH runs a campaign, your reward chances count privately inside your dashboard.
